YAKUTIA TODAY. Amidst the biting cold and frozen tundra, the heart of Yakutia (Sakha) beats warm and vibrant as it celebrated the 100th birthday of one of its most esteemed citizens - Ekaterina Egorovna Starostina. Riding the waves of congratulatory messages from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Yakutia's Head Aisen Nikolaev, Ekaterina's centennial journey marked a century of resilience, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her roots.

The day of her birthday, the awe-inspiring centenarian was bestowed the honorary "Uyé Saas" badge, accompanied by a certificate and an impressive 1 million ruble cash prize. With the anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War victory looming, Ekaterina received the jubilee medal "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

Ekaterina Egorovna was born a humble girl in 1925, nestled in the village of Khonu, Momsky District, Yakut ASSR. Her life intertwined with that of her husband, with whom she raised nine strong, thriving children and became a esteemed grandmother and great-grandmother. Striding into her working life at the tender age of sixteen, she began her life as a dairymaid in the Kalinin collective farm. Her courageous efforts in the Great Patriotic War were rewarded with the "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War" medal in 1947.

Post-war, Ekaterina continued her tenacious work as a dairymaid, offering her utmost responsibility and diligence, earning her numerous recognitions as a labor hero. She received the commemorative "Veteran of Labor" badge, the "Veteran of Yakutia's Agriculture" honorary badge, the Order of "Mother's Glory" I degree, and the illustrious "Honorary Elder of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" badge.

Ekaterina Egorovna Starostina deserves her title as an Honorary Citizen of Momsky Municipal District and the village of Khonu, Momsky District. Her devoted daughter, Natalya Gavrilovna Sleptsova, tenderly takes care of her, ensuring her legacy burns as bright as ever.
