In Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia, 2025 witnessed a surge in women joining the courier industry, with the Russian Post becoming the largest employer of women in these roles. This shift was driven by the appeal of flexible schedules and additional income.
The Russian Post emerged as the primary employer of women couriers and packers in Zabaykalsky Krai. Women aged 35-44 dominated this workforce, making up 38% of the total, followed by those aged 45-54 (26%) and 25-34 (19%).
Convenient schedules, compatibility with existing work or study, and quick earnings were the main reasons women opted for courier jobs. From January to August 2025, job applications from women for these positions surged by 86%.
Women couriers valued independence and flexible hours, with 33% appreciating the freedom to choose their shifts. The ability to plan the number of shifts and earn additional income also appealed to many, with 24% and 22% respectively citing these as key benefits.
The average income per shift ranged between 3,000 to 5,000 rubles, but actual earnings varied based on the number of orders and bonuses.
