Weekly Market, Busway Closure, Bus Station Relocation, Town Hall Parking Lot Closure, and Cycling Traffic Restriction on Laurentiusstraße in Bergisch Gladbach

In August 2025, the city of Bergisch Gladbach will host the annual Laurentiuskirmes, a popular event filled with showmen's fairs and festivities mainly at St. Laurentius. Here's what you need to know about the traffic and transport changes during this exciting period.

From August 4th to August 13th, vehicle traffic, including cyclists, will be prohibited along the city hall up to the Schnabelsmühle roundabout. Cyclists can detour via the Buchmühlen parking lot or dismount and push their bikes on the sidewalk within the closed section. The city hall parking lot will be transformed into a campsite for showmen from August 3rd to August 14th, making it inaccessible to the public from 8 PM on August 3rd until August 14th.

During the same period, the bus lane on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz will be closed, and buses will detour to temporary stops at the city hall "An der Gohrsmühle." The bus stops "Markt" and "Poststr." in both directions will be suspended, with replacement stops available at the Schnabelsmühle roundabout for "Markt" and "Bergisch Gladbach (S)" for "Poststr."

These changes will affect several bus lines such as 227, 426, 427, 434, 436, 439, 452, and night lines N41-N44. Normal traffic in the Bergisch Gladbach city center will resume on August 14th, after the Laurentiuskirmes concludes.

The weekly market during the Laurentiuskirmes will be located in the pedestrian zone on the main street on August 6th, 9th, and 13th. The contraflow bike lane on Laurentiusstraße will be closed in its final section towards the town hall due to an obstacle on the road at the fairground from August 4th.

The Laurentiuskirmes will take place on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and around the Bergischer Löwe from August 9th to August 12th, 2025. We encourage you to plan your travels accordingly and enjoy the festivities while minimising inconvenience. Stay tuned for more updates on the daily event schedule for the Laurentiuskirmes.
