Vienna's Dazzling Ice Spectacle: A Seamless Blend of Ice and Illumination
Ice Skating Bash in the Austrian Air - Wiener Eistraum continues to be a yearly spectacle downtown Vienna since 1996. The almighty rink, sprawling over 700m2, is once again enticing folks to the Rathausplatz. A trio of refrigeration units pumps cold air through a labyrinth of 400,000 pipes nether the ice to ensure a smooth glide. This year, they're pulling out all the stops for its 20th anniversary, with an eye-popping showcase kicking off on the 23rd of January. Hell, they're even making rainbows jealous with these colors!
A Blazing Light Show between Rathaus and Burgtheater
For the opening, the creative minds behind the stage, Christian Weisskircher and lighting programmer Jürgen Erntl, thought big. One grandMA2 light, three MA 4Port Nodes, 40 moving lights, and ten Clay Paky B-EYE K20s were their weapon of choice. "We needed some serious spots to put on a show, and the Clay Paky B-EYEs were perfect for projecting powerful effects, even against backlighting," Weisskircher stated. Their ultimate goal? To shower the entire ice rink in light and create unforgettable moments for the skaters and spectators. The icey season will be lit up by around 300 outdoor LED PAR spotlights, 20 LED floods, and 40 LED zoom moving lights.
And Here's the Kicker:The Wiener Eistraum lasts until March 8th. Since 2005, the event has grown to offer not only ice skating but also a winding 750-meter 'Traumpfad' ('Dreamway') through the park.
