Last week, the Evangelical Church Bergisch Gladbach hosted a series of LEGO building days at their Q1 youth center. Over a span of five action-packed days, 22 children, aged 8 to 12, transformed the space into their very own LEGO city[1].

Throughout the days, the kids demonstrated their creativity as they worked together to build intricate structures, all while enjoying some friendly competition during breaks, joined by table tennis, foosball, and UNO[2]. The supervisors couldn't help but get in on the fun too. A particular highlight was the midweek excursion to the Jump House in Cologne, followed by a scrumptious pizza dinner[2].

Behind the Scenes

Much of the success behind these LEGO building days can be attributed to the "We are STRONG" project, a joint endeavor between the Social Foundation NRW and Aktion Lichtblicke e.V.[1] The Youth department of Cologne and the region took care of the coordination, with Q1 primarily focusing on the supervision[1].

Stay tuned, as the next LEGO building days will take place during Easter 2025 at the Evangelical Church Hohenhaus. Interested communities can reach out to the youth department for more details regarding the autumn sessions[1].
