Vibrant Permanent Marking on the Historic Lahn Bridge
The Limburg Bridge Festival returns from May 30 to June 1, offering a vibrant celebration on and around the Old Lahn Bridge. This year's theme, "Bridges connect - through space and time," underscores the festival's significance in Limburg's event calendar.
Highlights of the festival include the popular Duck Race on the Lahn, which promises laughter and cheers, and a jam-packed schedule of live music, artisanal markets, and children's activities. The Jazz Session kicks off the festival on Friday evening, with Wakkamole set to perform. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy a fire show, family musical, and magic show, among other performances.
The festival grounds span from Konrad-Kurzbold-Straße to the Lock Island. According to Mayor Dr. Marius Hahn, the Old Lahn Bridge, which was built in 2023, has become an integral part of Limburg's event landscape since the festival's inception.
For water enthusiasts, exciting canoe trips on the Lahn to Raven Island are on offer thanks to the Canoe Club Limburg. The trips take place on Saturday from 10 am to 3:30 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 3:30 pm. themed tours "Old Lahn Bridge" lasting 30 minutes are also available, with pre-registration recommended.
The city line Limburg provides information about the expansion of the city line from July 1 or the on-demand offer LahnStar at an information stand. Michael Stanke, First Deputy Mayor and Director of the City Line Limburg, expressed his belief that the Bridge Festival and a well-connected public transportation system serve to bring people together.
Road and bus traffic in the city will be affected due to the festival: the Old Lahn Bridge, Inselweg, Konrad-Kurzbold-Straße, and Brückengasse will be closed to traffic from May 30 at 7 am to June 1 at 11 pm. Detours are signposted.
Visitors can purchase tickets for the Duck Race, which supports regional charitable projects, from May 24 at the Limburg Tourist Information for five euros each. The festival promises to be a delightful weekend of entertainment, community, and camaraderie.
