Upon unveiling, Braunschweig's flea market amazes all with its seemingly magical contents.
Last Sunday (September 7), the Harz & Heide Flea Market in Brunswick experienced traffic chaos, causing a headache for both exhibitors and visitors. According to the event organiser, Andreas Huertler, such stress situations at the flea market are predictable.
Despite the chaos, Huertler was confident that his team of 20 members, most of whom work as a side job and are experienced with the flea market, handled the situation effectively. The morning coffee is the only quiet moment for the flea market team, providing a brief respite before the hustle and bustle of the day begins.
Huertler also mentioned that the number of actual attendees at the flea market is unpredictable, with the number of visitors fluctuating greatly, between 2,500 and 7,000. This unpredictability is due in part to the lack of information about parallel events that might cause strong fluctuations in visitor and exhibitor numbers.
The next flea market event will take place in October, with three event days, including October 3rd. Children can still enter the flea market for free, and there is a reservation system for exhibitors to order a place in the reservation zones in advance.
Outdoor events like the Harz & Heide Flea Market are dependent on the weather and other parallel events. Preparations for the site of the flea market begin on Tuesday and continue until Friday afternoon. The site is marked with 20 to 25 bags of lime, power connections are laid, trash cans and toilets are organized, and everything runs at 150% from 4:30 AM.
Each team member has their own area of responsibility with substitutes for breaks in each zone. Huertler considers the flea market a full-time job, and the team aims to create a relaxed atmosphere for both exhibitors and visitors.
The Euro entry fee at the flea market was introduced due to Corona and constant price increases. Despite two members dropping out the evening before, the team was fully staffed for the event.
The search results do not provide information about parallel events that might be causing strong fluctuations in visitor and exhibitor numbers at the Harz & Heide flea market in Brunswick. With a focus on providing a pleasant experience for all, the team at the Harz & Heide Flea Market continues to work diligently to ensure the success of each event.
