Ultralight Sleeping Mat from Sea to Summit's Ether Light XR Pro delivers enhanced comfort for your lightweight expeditions.

In the pursuit of lightweight outdoor gear, comfort often takes a back seat. However, Sea to Summit's latest offering challenges this notion with the launch of the Ether Light XR Insulated Air Sleeping Pad. This ultralight mat promises to deliver comfort without compromising on weight, making it an ideal choice for winter camping, mountaineering, and cold weather backpacking.

The Ether Light XR Insulated Air Sleeping Pad is part of Sea to Summit's spring line, released alongside the brand's environmentally-conscious Revive range. Known for their innovative designs, Sea to Summit claims this to be the lightest pad they've ever produced.

Equipped with ThermalCore technology for insulation, the Ether Light XR sports an R-value of 4.1, suggesting it's well-equipped to handle cold-weather conditions. It provides a comfortable 10cm (4 inches) of distance from the cold ground, which bodes well for higher elevations and chilly summits.

Weighing just 15.7oz (445g), this ultralight mat is lighter than most sleeping pads the brand has tested, save for the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir UberLite and NeoAir XLite NXT. Remarkably, it packs down to a size similar to a Nalgene bottle, making it a space-saver in your backpack.

Compared to the Ether Light XT Extreme, which boasted an R-value of 6.2, the new Ether Light XR is somewhat less suitable for extreme cold weather. However, it's significantly lighter, packs smaller, and still offers the same loft.

While the Ether Light XT Extreme is currently sold out on Sea to Summit's website, enthusiasts seeking a pad for colder weather need not worry. The new Ether Light XR also comes in a Pro version, which boasts an impressive R-value of 7.2 for an extra three ounces and the same packability.

Both pads feature an Airstream pump integrated into the stuff sack and a high-airflow XPRESS valve, ensuring quick and simple inflation and deflation. The Ether Light XR Insulated Air Sleeping Pad is available now in multiple sizes, starting at $189 / £200 from Sea to Summit, with the Pro version starting at $219 / £240.

In terms of key features, the Ether Light XR benefits from ThermalCore insulation, an ASTM-tested R-value of 4.1, air sprung cell construction, easy inflation and deflation, durability, compactness, lightweight robustness, a quilted comfort surface, various dimensions, medium plush firmness, and is best suited for winter camping, mountaineering, and cold weather backpacking.

The Ether Light XR Insulated Air Sleeping Pad, part of Sea to Summit's spring line, is not only lightweight but also promises comfort for outdoor-living enthusiasts during winter camping, mountaineering, and cold weather backpacking. The pad's ThermalCore technology provides insulation with an R-value of 4.1, making it ideal for handling cold-weather conditions. In comparison to the home-and-garden category, this ultralight mat is a significant investment for those who prefer sports and sports-betting activities in the great outdoors.
