The International Congress Centre will temporarily reopen for a limited period of 49 hours.
The International Congress Centre (ICC) in Berlin, a remarkable silver building located in the west of the city, will be open to the public for free during the Tag des Denkmals (Doors Open Day) from September 12 to 14, 2025. This is a rare opportunity to explore the ICC's impressive foyer and multiple futuristic conference halls before renovation work begins due to asbestos contamination, which caused its closure in 2014.

A Last Look at the ICC Before Renovations
This visit presents perhaps the last chance to see the ICC in its original state before renovation work begins. The ICC, initially built as a venue for large-scale events, was designed to show West Berlin's ability to match East Berlin in large-scale, forward-looking design. The massive silver building, which resembles a dormant, abandoned spaceship, still stands as a testament to the ambition and creativity of the time.
Additional Events
On September 11-12, the FORM/FUTURE Design Conference will take place at ICC as part of the event, featuring discussions about design as a tool for transformation.
The International Congress Centre, built in 1979, has been a beloved landmark in Berlin for its ambitious scale and remarkable interiors. However, its future use by Berlin is still undecided. This visit offers a unique opportunity to experience a piece of Berlin's history and architectural heritage before it undergoes significant changes.
