Techem Acquires Inexogy Smart Metering to Boost Smart Meter Installations

Techem, a leading provider of energy and water management services, has acquired a majority stake in Inexogy Smart Metering. The companies aim to significantly expand smart meter installation capacities and enter a scaling phase next year, with an investment of 320 million euros over five years.

Techem brings extensive experience in digitalization and decarbonization to the partnership, along with an international portfolio of over 13 million apartments. The company's digital platform will be expanded to integrate property data and offer decarbonization solutions.

The CEO of Inexogy Smart Metering, David Zimmer, expressed excitement about the collaboration. Inexogy can now expand its business in dynamic tariffs and prosumers, thanks to Techem's financial support. The company's smart meters will play a crucial role in making the energy system more efficient and sustainable, using data from 1.5 million smart meters.

The companies plan to explore new customer segments, including residential and commercial real estate, industrial buildings, and retail. A key focus will be on tenant electricity models for multi-family homes using intelligent metering systems. They aim to support grid operators in equipping households with intelligent metering systems.

With Techem's acquisition of a majority stake in Inexogy Smart Metering, the companies are poised to significantly expand smart meter installation capacities. Their collaboration will drive digitalization and decarbonization in the energy sector, benefiting both customers and grid operators.
