Sunday hosts the "Büdhchen Open" event.

A store located at Werstener Dorfstraβe 161 remained vacant for approximately 15 years. Prior to its emptiness, it served as a destination for various household goods, and notably, it was a convenient stroll from multiple locations.

Sunday hosts the "Büdhchen Open" event.

The once vacant kiosk at Werstener Dorfstraße 161 in Wersten, Germany, is now being transformed into a vibrant cultural and community hub under the initiative "Washte161 Kultbud Wersten".

After a two-year negotiation process with the city, the abandoned kiosk has been rented by the initiative. Their goal is to repurpose it as more than just a sales point, creating a lively, inclusive space that strengthens community ties and enriches local culture in Wersten.

The core idea behind Washte161 Kultbud is to offer a space for local art, cultural events, and neighbourhood gatherings. While specific programming may vary, the initiative is set to host the "Shop open" event on Sunday, 18.5., from 13 to 18 hours at Werstener Dorfstraße 161. During this event, visitors can get a personal impression of the kiosk, including a construction site tour, food, drinks, and a children’s program.

Moreover, the initiative has already improved the outdoor area of the kiosk with beds and a dry stone wall for bees. A beekeeper will explain bee-friendly areas in Wersten during the Bee Walk, which is scheduled for Sunday at 15:00 as part of the "Shop open" event. The Bee Walk, approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers long and scheduled for 90 minutes, costs 8.64 euros for adults and 4.38 euros for children. Child tickets can only be purchased in combination with an adult ticket for the Bee Walk.

For those interested in supporting the Kulturbud renovation, the initiative is seeking supporters every Tuesday from 17 to 19 hours and Thursdays from 17 to 19 hours. Further information about donations and the Kulturbud initiative can be found on their website. Notably, donations to the Kulturbud initiative are tax-deductible as the initiative is recognized as a non-profit organization.

Mayor Keller will visit the kiosk on Sunday afternoon during the "Shop open" event. Sabrina Hantke and Dirk Rauchmann will lead the event venue. For more information about tickets for the Bee Walk or upcoming events, please visit the provided link.
