In the realm of audio technology, Shure is making waves not just for its high-quality products, but also for its commitment to environmental responsibility. The Chicago-based company, known for its microphones and headphones, is leading the charge towards sustainable practices, with a focus on people, products, facilities, and communities.

At the helm of this green revolution is President and CEO, Chris Schyvinck, who recently stated, "Green isn't just in our logo, it's an important part of who we are."

One of Shure's key initiatives is the transition from non-recyclable to sustainable packaging materials. The organization supporting this change is GreenBiz. Shure's efforts in this area include replacing thermoform trays with more eco-friendly alternatives, reducing overall plastic materials, and right-sizing packaging.

Shure's sustainable packaging goals are ambitious. By 2023, the company aims to increase recyclable and/or renewable packaging for new products to 75%. This target is set to grow to 90% by 2025 and 100% by 2030 for existing product packaging.

Shure's sustainable endeavors extend beyond packaging. The company's products are engineered with sustainability in mind, designed to reduce overall power consumption. Shure's products use less energy in "down" modes and allow remote monitoring of power use with Wireless Workbench Software.

Shure's commitment to sustainability is not going unnoticed. More than 100 million AA batteries have been saved from landfills by 2027, calculated from data collected globally from customers in various industries. This is thanks to Shure's rechargeable batteries, which have been adopted by over a hundred Broadway shows, saving over 21,000 batteries from one show alone during its run.

Shure's sustainable efforts also extend to its suppliers. The company works with partners who take action on sustainability, including those who use solar power and recycled water in their operations.

Shure is a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, demonstrating its commitment to collaborative efforts in the field of sustainable packaging. The company's manufacturing plants also have recycling programs for cardboard boxes and wooden pallets, keeping tons of cardboard waste and nearly 5,000 wooden pallets out of landfills.

Shure regularly reviews international regulations, directives, and standards to ensure compliance with environmental regulations like RoHS, REACH, and WEEE. The nature of these regulations promotes sustainable electronics and electronics manufacturing.

In a world where sustainability is increasingly important, Shure is setting an example for the audio technology industry. With its ambitious goals and ongoing commitment, Shure is well on its way to becoming a zero-waste company.
