Schaeffler to Acquire Vitesco, DHL to Make Logistics CO2-Neutral by 2040
Schaeffler is set to acquire Vitesco Technologies, a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, in a deal aiming to create a stronger tier one supplier. The merger, expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2023, also involves DHL Supply Chain stepping in to manage Vitesco's logistics in a CO2-neutral manner by 2040.
Vitesco, a tier one supplier of electric powertrain systems and electronic control units for combustion powertrains, will benefit from DHL Supply Chain's 4PL (Fourth-Party Logistics) concept. Pilot projects have already demonstrated substantial savings and enhanced sustainability in Vitesco's supply chain. DHL will optimise routes, combine deliveries, and manage inbound shipments from nearly 500 suppliers, all while aiming to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and maximise supply chain efficiency.
The specific European countries where DHL Supply Chain is implementing this 4PL concept for Vitesco are not publicly available. Such details are often kept confidential or not disclosed to the public. However, official press releases and business reports from both companies may provide more detailed and up-to-date information on current and past projects.
The merger of Vitesco Technologies with Schaeffler, along with DHL Supply Chain's involvement in managing logistics, is expected to strengthen Vitesco's position in the EV sector. This collaboration aims to create a more sustainable and efficient supply chain, contributing to Vitesco's goal of running its business in a CO2-neutral way by 2040.
