Rhine Wine Festival
48th Rheingau Wine Week Transforms Wiesbaden into a Vibrant Wine Festival
The 48th Rheingau Wine Week took place from August 8 to August 17, 2025, in Wiesbaden, Germany. The city was transformed into a large wine festival venue, with the area around the Marktkirche, Schlossplatz, and Dern'sche Gelände playing host to the festivities.
The event was officially opened on Friday, August 8 at 5 p.m. in front of the town hall, marking the start of the week-long celebrations with a formal ceremony.
Schedule and Opening Hours
On Friday and Saturday, the festival was open from 11 a.m. to midnight. On all other days, opening hours were from 12 noon to 11 p.m.
Participating Winemakers
Twenty participating winegrowers offered a wide variety of Rheingau wines. Their names and details were provided on the back of the "Wine festival ticket" vouchers, which also served as tickets for environmentally friendly transport to and from the event. Some of the winemakers featured included Sekt House Solter, Weingut Keßler, and Prince of Hesse.
Practical Information for Visitors
A special ESWE Verkehr event ticket was available for €5.20, covering return bus and train travel and redeemable for a glass of wine. A bicycle checkroom operated near the rear exit of Marktkirche with opening hours aligned to the festival. Cab ranks and bus parking spaces were arranged to facilitate visitor arrival and departure.
Events and Atmosphere
The festival included tastings, opportunities to buy wines from Rheingau winemakers, and social gatherings within a festive environment around central Wiesbaden locations. The wine selection focused on Rheingau's renowned white wines, celebrated for their quality and variety.
In addition to the daily tastings, a learning game called Memory was being offered. This game aimed to promote concentration and visual memory, with participants encouraged to match the faces of winemakers with their respective wine labels. The Memory game offered a chance to win a free glass of wine if participants could match the pairs in under 60 seconds. The top three participants in the Memory game will be published and receive a small thank you.
