In the heart of Siberia, a unique summer camp for the elderly named "Silver Holidays" has commenced at the cadet school-internat in Yakutsk. The camp, organised by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of Yakutia and the "School of the Third Age", is attracting participants from different walks of life, aged between 55 and 91.

One of the camp's attendees, Varvara Nikolaevna Sazonova, traveled all the way from Middle Kolyma Ulus to be a part of this inspiring event. Varvara, who is 58, enjoys dancing, yoga, fitness, and archery, but the camp's programme does not specify any activities related to these hobbies.

The theme of this year's camp is "The Power of Tuimaada", though the organisers did not disclose the exact meaning behind this choice. However, they emphasised that the participants are united by their shared desire to live a full life despite their age.

The camp programme is filled with a variety of activities, including acquaintance training, excursions, interest-based activities, a health day, sports competitions, a thematic day dedicated to the USSR, a talent day, and a friends' day. The organisers believe that communication is crucial for the elderly to slow down the effects of old age.

Despite the camp's popularity, no new regions or cities beyond the 22 regions of Yakutia and the city of Yakutsk are represented by the participants. Moreover, no new travel distances or challenges faced by participants to attend the camp have been reported.

The camp will run until August 3, marking the end of the "Power of Tuimaada" shift. For those interested in learning more about summer health camps for elderly people specifically in Yakutsk, contacting local health departments, community centers serving elderly populations, or regional non-governmental organisations focused on elder care or public health might provide valuable insights.
