Refreshing Spring Makeover in My Living Room
In a paid partnership with Bemz, we present a 2017 sitting room refresh that showcases three different ways to refresh your space, including an autumn makeover. The transformation is achieved through a blend of DIY hacks and Bemz's bespoke fabric expertise, creating a personalised, minimalist, functional, and natural Scandinavian home decor.
Our author, who only works with brands they love, partnered with Bemz to give the sitting room a fresh Scandinavian-style makeover. The furniture legs used in the refresh are Sergel Skinny Wooden Furniture legs and Märta oval wooden furniture legs.
One of the key elements of the refresh was the use of Bemz custom slipcovers. The IKEA Söderhamn 3 Seater sofa cover and the IKEA Söderhamn chaise long cover, both in Bouclé ivory, were replaced with these high-quality covers. The fabric choice complements minimalist, natural, or Japandi-inspired interiors beautifully.
For those seeking a mid-century modern style, consider swapping IKEA legs for tapered or hairpin styles, replacing hardware with leather pulls or brass knobs, staining unfinished wood pieces in teak or walnut tones, and incorporating colours like mustard, burnt orange, turquoise, and olive. These hacks, combined with Bemz fabric covers, can give basic IKEA furniture a mid-century Scandinavian vibe.
Other DIY projects include customising IKEA Ivar cabinets with added slats and ornate details to create stylish Scandinavian storage solutions. Simple projects like transforming basic IKEA dressers into elevated designer-level pieces or making super simple side tables that bring Nordic charm to your home are also options.
Photography and styling for the article were expertly done by Niki Brantmark and Helen Sturesson respectively. As a special offer, free samples are available upon request. So, why wait? Start your Scandinavian home decor journey today with IKEA and Bemz!
