The bustling city of Düsseldorf is set to welcome a new serene haven, as plans have been unveiled to redesign the Old Harbor (Alter Hafen) into a relaxing spot within the city centre.

Deputy Mayor Cornelia Zuschke and Mayor Stephan Keller have expressed their enthusiasm for the project, with the latter presenting innovative ideas for upgrading and redesigning the Old Harbor. Prof. Benedikt Stahl from the architectural firm Küss den Frosch has also presented various visualizations showcasing design possibilities for the water surface, green spaces, blooming trees, water-bound pavement, and wooden platforms in the Old Harbor.

The Old Harbor, currently identified as one of Düsseldorf's "quiet places," is envisioned as a counterpoint to the nearby Old Town's bustling activity. The redesign plans will undergo further refinement and elaboration, making them more specific and detailed.

The passion and dedication of approximately 80 participants in a workshop for the Old Harbor redesign have been praised by Zuschke, who sees their energy as the driving force behind the further development of Düsseldorf's city centre.

To ensure the plans align with the community's vision, there will be a pop-up participation event for Düsseldorf residents to provide feedback on the Old Harbor redesign plans. The plans will also be subject to further public discussion and open to public scrutiny and feedback.

Residents seeking more information or wishing to participate in future urban redevelopment projects are encouraged to check the Düsseldorf city government website, local planning departments, or official urban development or public participation portals for announcements and opportunities to participate through public meetings, surveys, or online feedback forms.

As the transformation of the Old Harbor unfolds, Düsseldorf residents can look forward to a tranquil oasis amidst the city's vibrant heart.

The vision for the Old Harbor's redesign includes transforming it into a serene retreat, offering a stark contrast to the nearby Old Town's activity, making it a perfect haven for a lifestyle centered around home-and-garden peacefulness. The city government is inviting Düsseldorf residents to offer feedback during a pop-up participation event, ensuring the plans align with the community's expectations and contribute positively to the city's urban development, promoting a home-and-garden lifestyle within the city center.
