Reality Now Constructed: Manufacturing the Realm of Existence
Nestled on the edge of the Kaveri River, a serene farmhouse retreat awaits in the picturesque village of Hond. Designed by The Company of Design and landscaped by DesignSeed, Vadodara, this 7,400 sq ft farmhouse is a testament to minimal elements and maximal materiality, featuring wood and stone prominently throughout its design.
The farmhouse consists of two structures: a main house and an outhouse, both seamlessly integrated into the 44,450 sq ft site. The main house and the requested secluded space are part of the same development scheme, with the latter providing privacy for the family.
The core idea for the farmhouse design was to allow intimate interactions with the surrounding landscape. To achieve this, the space near the river is designed to feel like a secluded nook, with the farmhouse itself featuring a lot of greenery, mainly mango and chickoo trees that were already present on the site.
The farmhouse's terrain encompasses a site area of 44,450 sq ft, which was previously filled with these fruit-bearing trees. This natural setting provides a tranquil backdrop for the farmhouse, enhancing its connection with the environment.
The outhouse, hidden behind a large stone wall, adds an air of mystery and exclusivity to the property. Landscaping consultancy for the farmhouse was provided by DesignSeed, Vadodara, who focused on blending the farmhouse with its surroundings, using native plants and maintaining a natural aesthetic that complements the rural setting.
Large outdoor spaces, such as expansive porches, allow for a seamless transition between the interior and exterior, further emphasizing the farmhouse's connection with nature.
