Proposed Design for the Mother's Monument in Biysk Unveiled
A Socio-Cultural Development Coming to Biysk
Get ready for a significant addition to Victory Park this year. Plans are underway to erect a symbolic figure, aMonument to the Defenders' Mothers, in our city. Although the concept was initially conceived several years back, it is only now that it is on the verge of fruition. Designers are currently in the final stage of its development, as the general concept has already been endorsed.
The idea for this monument originated in the heart of a volunteer movement known as "Together for Ours," comprising many Biysk mothers who have sent their sons off to serve in the Special Military Operation. This resilient group has tirelessly dedicated their time and resources to oefforts like weaving camouflage nets and suits, making hot meals, pouring trench candles, collecting aid, and sending it "beyond the border."
As the volunteer movement grew, so did connections, ultimately leading to the formation of the Council of Mothers of Participants in the SVO. "Only someone who has walked this path can truly empathize with the emotions felt by a mother while sending her son off," says Natasha Markov, the Council's chairwoman. "We genuinely wanted to honor all mothers and immortalize their image."
In a quest for an innovative, contemporary design, numerous ideas were explored. However, collaborations with local artists resulted in unfulfilled visions and rejections from the expert commission.
Recognizing the potential of this meaningful project, Andrey Abramov, a deputy of the AKZS and chairman of the Altai Territory Journalists' Union, was approached for assistance. He brought in Altai artist Ivan Ilyushchenko, who developed the current concept.
"The monument required an image that is timeless, connected to no specific age, religion, or era," explains Ivan Ilyushschenko.
The chosen design emphasizes the universal nature of the monument, striving to resonate with all mothers regardless of their backgrounds.
Ivan Ilyushchenko has been refining the sketch diligently, with the focus on creating an aesthetically pleasing design that will complement the existing park environment, ensuring the monument stands at a height of 5-6 meters without causing any disruptions to the park's landscape.
Andrey Abramov has taken it upon himself to cover the costs associated with creating the sketch, with plans to secure additional sponsorship to cover the costs of creating the sculpture itself. Preliminary arrangements have already been made, ensuring the swift and high-quality execution of this meaningful project.
Once finalized, the sketch will be presented to the initiators and the expert commission for approval. Expected to be unveiled later this year, the monument will serve as a heartfelt tribute to the mothers of our nation.
