Primary focus lies on the central street: grants of up to 40% for courtyard and facade improvement projects
On Thursday, 21st of November, the city of Solingen will host the first event in its "Stadtgespräch" series. This event series, held in the city centre, aims to foster conversations about various topics related to the city's development, culture, and social issues.
The inaugural event, titled "Hauptsache Hauptstraße", will take place at the city centre office "MITTEndrin", Hauptstraße 56. The topic will focus on the revitalisation of the city's main street. Christof Gemeiner, the quarter architect and a consultant in the city centre, will be leading the discussion.
Christof Gemeiner has been active since the summer of 2023, working to engage the local community in discussions about urban development and funding opportunities such as the courtyard and facade program, and the conversion fund WIN. He has held numerous discussions and informed property owners of permanently vacant retail spaces about new perspectives, with one owner expected to start the implementation in the near future, and more expected to follow.
In addition to the main event, information about funding opportunities will be provided. The courtyard and facade program can cover up to 40 percent of eligible costs, and the conversion fund offers a flat-rate subsidy that is oriented towards the future use of the properties.
The "Stadtgespräch" series is not a one-off event. Further city talks are planned, including "Green in the city" and "Color design in the city", which will continue the conversation about Solingen's development and sustainability.
Attendance to the "Stadtgespräch" events is free, and employees of Christof Gemeiner's architecture firm will be available every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the "MITTEndrin" to answer questions and provide information.
The "Stadtgespräch" series is an excellent opportunity for Solingen residents to engage in open dialogue with experts and city officials, collaboratively shaping the future of their city. The event starts at 5:00 PM on Thursday, 21st of November. Don't miss out on this chance to contribute to the development of your city!
