Despite a challenging July, outdoor pools in Saxony, Germany, have welcomed fewer visitors this summer compared to last year. According to local reports, the four outdoor pools in Chemnitz had about 47,000 visitors by the end of July, a decrease of approximately ten percent. Meanwhile, the nine outdoor pools in Dresden saw significantly fewer visitors, with around 165,000 by the same date.

The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that the summer temperatures will return, with temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees expected on Thursday and no significant rainfall. However, the rainy summer has already taken its toll on these popular summer spots.

The weather in July has been particularly challenging for outdoor pools in Leipzig, Dresden, and Chemnitz, leading to mixed results. MDR reported on the impact of the rainy weather on these pools, with shorter operating times and decreased attendance.

However, the operators of these outdoor pools remain optimistic about the remaining part of the outdoor season. Spokesperson Katja Glaß emphasized that despite the current weather challenges, they are hopeful for a summery conclusion to the outdoor season.

The bathing season for Saxon outdoor pools started excellently in May and June, but July has been unsatisfactory due to the rainy days. Despite this, the interim balance for outdoor pools in Leipzig shows around 110,000 visitors by the end of July, while specific figures for Dresden and Chemnitz are not currently available.

The DWD also predicts that the 30-degree mark will be reached by the weekend, offering a potential boost to the outdoor pool season. All Saxon outdoor pools are hoping for a warm and sunny conclusion to the outdoor season, as they aim to recover from the impact of the rainy summer.

For more detailed or quantitative information, local municipal reports or regional swimming pool associations from Leipzig, Dresden, or Chemnitz for the 2021 season would be the most reliable sources.

In light of the gloomy July weather and its impact on outdoor pools in Leipzig, Dresden, and Chemnitz, various employment policies might be implemented to maximize pool usage during the rest of the season. For instance, the community policy could be amended to offer flexible employment hours for lifeguards, allowing them to work during peak hours on sunny days. Additionally, an outdoor-living lifestyle initiative could be introduced as part of the employment policy, encouraging lifeguards to engage with visitors and promote home-and-garden tips for enjoying summer at home when pool visits are limited.
