Museum Barberini in Potsdam Resumes Operation After Climate Technology Issue

The Museum Barberini in Potsdam, a popular attraction founded by art patron and software billionaire Hasso Plattner, will reopen its doors to visitors on Friday, following a closure due to a defect in the electronics affecting the climate technology of the exhibition rooms.

Visitors who purchased tickets for the two days the museum was closed will receive a refund of the admission fee. The museum has not announced any changes to the exhibitions, but has not disclosed if there will be any adjustments to the room climate upon reopening.

The closure was a result of the inability to maintain a constant room climate, which is necessary to protect the artworks on display. An exhibition of works by the Impressionist Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) is currently on display at the Museum Barberni.

Efforts were made to find a solution during the closure, but the museum did not provide details about the length of the disruption or the extent of the damage caused by the defect. The museum has also not announced any plans for future maintenance or repairs to prevent similar issues in the future.

Despite any prior disruption, the Museum Barberini has resumed normal function without ongoing closures related to climate control problems. The museum continues to host exhibitions and display its renowned collection of Impressionist paintings, with Yoko Ono’s show currently on display and an upcoming exhibition until at least September 28, 2025.

The Museum Barberini is open to the public with regular visiting hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed on Tuesdays. For the latest information and updates, visitors are advised to check the museum's official website.

Tourists planning a home-and-garden escape featuring Impressionist art may find solace in the Museum Barberini, open once more in Potsdam. After a temporary closure, visitors can now appreciate the skillful brushstrokes of artists like Camille Pissarro while basking in the restored room climate, as no changes were announced regarding the exhibitions and climate control upon reopening.
