Multitude of Singers at Karaoke Debut in Bretten's City Park, Gathering Over 500 Participants

The park was alive with music, laughter, and camaraderie as the fourth annual "Summer in the Park" open-air festival took place this year. The ten-day event series attracted over 3,000 guests, marking the highest attendance for a single event in the festival's history.

The karaoke party, a new addition to the festival, was a hit with the audience. Georgina Goidevi and Margherita Rauleder from Flehingen, who attended the event randomly, found themselves staying longer than anticipated. The atmosphere was further enhanced by string lights around the field, creating a warm and inviting summer ambience.

The festival, which typically features live music, art, food stalls, and family-friendly activities, saw a diverse program this year. From Rock'n'Roll to Schlager, evergreens to tongue-in-cheek nevergreens, the program catered to all ages and tastes. A family day was also held, attracting around 150 children, and an 'Indian Balance' exercise attracted about 80 participants.

Chessy Czesnat led the evening with guitar and vocal performances, aiming to get everyone singing along and creating a shared "band feeling." His "Sing a Song" format was well-received, and the karaoke premiere with Chessy Czesnat is likely to become a regular fixture in the program for future "Summer in the Park" events.

Bernhard Feineisen, head of the cultural office, appreciated the format as it allows everyone to sing, unlike traditional karaoke. Oberbürgermeister Nico Morast (CDU) also received consistently positive feedback for the festival. Caroline Traut, head of the VHS Bretten, noted that once someone attended one event, they usually came to another.

Jutta Vogel-Dolt expressed a preference for more German songs at the beginning of the karaoke program. This sentiment was shared by some participants, but the wide range of music on offer ensured that there was something for everyone.

The festival's success was not limited to the karaoke party. Many attendees were from nearby communities like Oberderdingen, Gondelsheim, Kraichtal, and Pforzheim. The open-air festival attracted around 500 guests for the karaoke party, marking the highest attendance for a single event in "Summer in the Park."

As the festival comes to a close, plans for the 2023 edition are already underway. With the trend towards more upscale and convenient festival experiences, it's expected that the 2023 edition of "Summer in the Park" will continue to evolve and improve, offering an even better experience for all attendees.
