Milano Design Week 2025 Highlights: Contributors Include Paolo Sorrentino, Robert Wilson, Sou Fujimoto, and Pierre-Yves Rochon
The 63rd edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano is set to return from 8th-13th April at Fiera Milano, promising a week-long celebration of design, innovation, and creativity.
At the heart of this year's event is SaloneSatellite, a platform dedicated to showcasing young talents under 35 years old. The creator and soul of SaloneSatellite, Marva Griffin, expressed her pride in still receiving requests despite applications being closed. This year's theme, 'New Craftsmanship: A New World', invites a reimagination of handmade products beyond the vernacular, encouraging a fresh perspective on traditional craftsmanship.
Marva Griffin described the theme as an invitation to stimulating reflection or thoughts for humans. SaloneSatellite 2025 will feature designers from various countries, including those from international design schools and universities. In total, there will be approximately 700 designers from 36 countries and 20 international design schools and universities.
The theme of 'New Craftsmanship: A New World' also extends to the Euroluce International Lighting Forum, which will be held during the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025. Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto is designing The Forest of Space Arena for the forum, while the Formafantasma Arena will host 'Drafting Futures. Conversations about Next Perspectives', featuring Lesley Lokko, Valeria Segovia, and Paolo Sorrentino.
Paolo Sorrentino is also contributing to the event with 'La dolce attesa', an immersive installation on the fairground. Meanwhile, 'Villa Héritage' by Pierre-Yves Rochon, inspired by his Salone experiences, will be an oasis of beauty and a space of relief, adding to the cultural programme of the event.
Robert Wilson is also contributing with 'Mother' at the Museo Pietà Rondanini - Castello Sforzesco. Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025, emphasized the importance of addressing human needs in the event.
With over 2,000 exhibitors, 38% of whom are from abroad, and 148 brands participating in the event, Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025 promises to be a global gathering of creativity and craftsmanship. Don't miss out on this exciting celebration of design!
