Mexican artist Jorge Satorre's show and illustrator María Medem's project kick off the season at CA2M.
Kickstarting 2025: Jorge Satorre and María Medem Take Over Madrid's CA2M
Gearing up for the new year, the Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M) of the Madrid Community, nestled in Móstoles, is all set to light up the art scene with an exhibition starring Mexican artist Jorge Satorre and a project by illustrator María Medem.
Dubbed as 'Laugh', Satorre's exhibition promises a journey through the artist's work spanning the last 15 years. Curated by Latitudes, a collective helmed by Mariana Cánepa Luna and Max Andrews, this captivating spectacle will run from January to September 21, with the added bonus of free admission.
Born in Mexico City in 1979, Jorge Satorre is an artistic chameleon, seamlessly moving between disciplines related to drawing and sculpture, his work often inscribing itself within the contexts he produces and exhibits. Diving deep into the obscure facets of history and local traditions, he chronicles unrevealed narratives, giving these narratives fashionable, contemporary makeovers.
Discover the unfathomable universe of María Medem as she takes over CA2M with her magical creations. 'Infinite String Game Under the Sun', Medem's offering to CA2M, will not only decorate the gallery walls but also invade the vacant spaces of the staircase and library through works on textiles. This immersive experience gives visitors the chance to engage with Medem's pieces, blurring the boundaries between reality, peculiarities, and ambiguities throughout the museum.
Two worlds collide, coming alive in various non-exhibition zones, emitting a sensory and experimental atmosphere charged with creativity. As per the regional government's statement, Medem's imaginary world will transcend the exhibition zones, leaving spectators spellbound.
Art and programming, graphic language, comics, self-publishing, and fanzines will emerge as key components of the CA2M experience, thanks to this riveting exhibition. This shows the museum's commitment to highlighting its graphic language and pop culture programming with this event.
