Bad Hersfeld, Germany - Despite facing challenging circumstances this year, the festivals in Bad Hersfeld have managed to attract over 100,000 visitors, according to organiser Jörn Hinkel. The festivals, which are set to conclude on Monday (18 August) with a closing gala, have been affected by poor July weather and funding cuts.
Hinkel stated that the high number of visitors was a "dream result," given the difficulties faced. The festivals faced a significant reduction in federal funding, with over half a million euros being cut.
The weather challenges have not gone unnoticed. Typically, rain-related drops in festival attendance can lead to several implications. Performances may be affected by delays, cancellations, or modifications to staging and sound setups due to safety concerns and weather conditions. Visitor preferences often shift, with attendees possibly favoring indoor or covered events, reducing attendance at outdoor stages or activities.
