Mainland Experiences June's Conclusion
Let's Roll! Leinfelden-Echterdingen Turns 50 with a Three-Day Bash, Here's the Scoop
Gear up, people! Leinfelden-Echterdingen is about to party like it's 1971. The city isn't just turning 50; it's throwing a three-day blowout starting from June 27 through June 29. The festivities will take place on a mile-long stretch connecting the districts of Echterdingen and Leinfelden.
Ingrid Krebs, head of the department for schools, youth, and clubs, tells us the 63 clubs and organizations involved have some killer ideas up their sleeves. Topping off the list of surprises is none other than Dundu - an eight-meter-tall hand-controlled puppet - cruising around, accompanied by two stilt walkers sporting the city's colors.
The festive mile will have divided zones to speed up rescue services' response time in case of an emergency. Access to the mile will be restricted to entry and exit at certain times. Although parking might seem tough, fear not! The festival tent, which can accommodate up to 1500 people, will emerge at the Sportpark Goldäcker from June 20, guarded by the German Red Cross, toilets, and storage areas.
Other Bash Highlights:
- Different zones for various activities, including a bike repair station and a wheel of fortune.
- Kids LOVE bouncing castles, and they'll have one.
- Clubs and schools will provide entertainment on Saturday.
- The digital band Volxx-Liga offers a mix of folk sound, Schlager, pop, and rock.
- On Sunday, an ecumenical festival service and a breakfast will be offered, followed by youth orchestras performing together.
- The SWR Big Band will bring the house down with a mix of jazz, Latin, and funk. Singer Fola Dada, the 2022 German Jazz Prize recipient, will also feature.
- Friday night kicks off with a tapping of the keg at 7 p.m. and live performances by cover band The Real Push, playing hits from the 70s and contemporary titles.
Pro-tips:
- If you fancy a drink, head to the city's stand, where the Filderhalle team will serve cocktails.
- Meet local representatives to ask questions about living and working in the vibrant city.
- Pick up the city chronicle, just in time for the three-day extravaganza.
- A bus shuttle won't be available, but fear not - there will be plenty of private parking spots.
The city has engaged an expert to prepare a safety concept to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. And let's not forget those sensitive areas, where certified barriers have been strategically placed to prevent any uncontrolled vehicles from barging onto the mile. Happy celebrations!
