Madhappy, a clothing brand, inaugurates its first physical retail location

Madhappy, a digital-first apparel brand established in 2017, has made its foray into physical retail with its first brick-and-mortar store in West Hollywood, California. Located on Melrose Avenue, this flagship store is more than just a retail space—it's a vibrant community hub that seamlessly blends fashion, wellness, culture, food, and community engagement.

The store, spanning 2,800 square feet, was designed in collaboration with Los Angeles-based creative studio PlayLab, Inc. A significant effort was made to think through every inch of the space, resulting in unique features that set it apart from conventional retail venues.

One such feature is the integration of the PANTRY® café within the store. This innovative café concept allows visitors to enjoy a retail and culinary experience under one roof. The West Hollywood location boasts partnerships with several local and global brands, such as Hotel Drugs, Bianca, Courage Bagels, Jon & Vinny's, and Beverly Hills Juice.

The store's opening event, the Beats brand launch weekend, showcased themed matcha lattes and limited-edition product giveaways, demonstrating a dynamic event-driven retail experience. Exclusive, onsite products and collaborations, like limited-edition Madhappy & Beats Pill portable speakers and the "Beats Berry Sweet Cloud Matcha" drink, were also introduced during the event.

Madhappy co-founder Peiman Raf stated that physical retail has been essential to Madhappy and its success. Mason Spector, another co-founder, mentioned that they took their time with the first flagship store to obsess over every detail in collaboration with PlayLab.

The store features a conversation pit, a large open-air courtyard, and a multimedia room that will rotate collaborators to design audiovisual experiences. The space will debut with work from Edmonton-based electronic artist, Khotin.

In addition to the café, the store offers special capsules and accessories, including custom bags from Pacific Tote Company, an incense pack and burner created with Kuumba International, and Madhappy for Los Angeles Dodgers '47 Clean Up items across four colorways.

Madhappy's West Hollywood store redefines a retail environment by combining various aspects of lifestyle under one roof, creating a holistic brand and lifestyle destination. This move marks a significant step for the brand, which, after opening over 20 seasonal pop-up stores, has finally established its first permanent brick-and-mortar location.

In 2019, Madhappy received $1.8 million in funding from LVMH, further propelling the brand's growth and ambitions. As Madhappy continues to expand, its West Hollywood store serves as a testament to the brand's commitment to providing immersive and engaging retail experiences for its customers.
