Libraries nationwide celebrate National Sign-Up Month for Library Cards in September!
Get Ready to Explore with Your Library Card!
September rolls around, and it's time to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month! Established by the American Library Association in 1987, this initiative aims to encourage children to grab a library card at the start of the school year, empowering them to embark on a journey of lifelong learning and literacy development.
Our library system is no stranger to exciting adventures! We've got a variety of library cards tailored to meet your specific needs. At the moment, we're offering the following cards to our patrons absolutely free:
- The Brain Booster Card is designed with Texas residents in mind. This card grants access to all our library's physical and digital resources and can be used with select partner libraries too. To get your hands on this card, simply provide proof of residence and submit your application at any of our 27 branches.
- The Digital Zone Card is exclusively for Harris County locals. It's a digital card that lets you explore our library's digital resources. You can apply for this card via our website. Be mindful, though, this card is limited to Harris County residents only.
- The Super Library Card serves as a complete library card and a valid photo ID all in one! This incredible combo is available to Texas residents. Just remember, you'll need to provide proof of residence and identity to get your hands on this card.
- The Texas Sharing is Caring Card is sponsored by the Texas State Library & Archives Commission. This card grants you access to materials from libraries statewide. Once you've had your library card with us for at least 90 days and are in good standing, you can apply for this card at the library.
- The Military Moves Card is a version of the Digital Zone Card, specifically created for active-duty military members without a Texas mailing address. You can obtain this card by submitting an application via our website.
- The Tomball Studying Achievers Card is a special library card for high school students in the Tomball Independent School District. This card offers full access to all our digital resources and lets students place academic-year holds that will be delivered to their school. Apply for this card through your school!
