Her decision allows a blend of family and external guidance to lead the way, as announced by Mainau GmbH. The island's other managing director, Count Björn Bernadotte, continues to hold his position.
"I'll maintain a strong connection to Mainau via the foundation's board," the 50-year-old shareholder reveals, having helmed the company since 2007. The Bernadotte family, descendants of the Swedish royal house, have shaped Mainau for five generations, and this stunning island near Konstanz remains in their possession.
The Mainau Island, a popular tourist draw on Lake Constance, boasts endless allures. Known as the “Flower Island,” it boasts more than a million annual visitors, enchanted by its breathtaking park and garden landscapes, exquisite baroque castle, captivating palm house, and the mesmerizing butterfly house across its 45 hectares.
Mainau GmbH's workforce includes around 150 full-time staff, 30 trainees, and about 200 seasonal workers each year. The Lennart Bernadotte Foundation, a non-profit entity, is the sole shareholder.
