La Palma-Cerritos AAUW Honors Women's History Month in March Celebration
The La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced a series of events and Interest Groups for the coming months. While specific details about the upcoming events are not currently available through local news and event sites, interested individuals are encouraged to visit the official AAUW La Palma-Cerritos Branch website or their social media pages for the most up-to-date information.
On March 1, 2022, the Public Policy Committee of the La Palma-Cerritos AAUW will host a Candidates Forum for City of Cerritos residents. The event will take place in the Cerritos City Council Chamber at 18125 Bloomfield Avenue from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the AAUW will celebrate Women's History Month on March 20, 2025, at the Cabrillo Lane Adult School Auditorium. More details about this event will be announced in due course.
The branch also hosts General Meetings on the third Thursdays of the month, and members can join four different social groups, known as Interest Groups. The available Interest Groups include Cover to Cover (a Book Discussion Group), Great Decisions (Discussion Group about world affairs), Gourmet Group (a couples or pair group that shares meals), and Readers' Theater (group that reads plays aloud).
The La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the AAUW is open to all graduates who have an associate, baccalaureate, or higher degree from an accredited college or university and want to work to advance equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy.
Interested persons can contact Administrator Harriet Moses at 714-994-1487 to join the La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the AAUW.
In the past, the branch has organised events such as the Annual Summer BBQ, which took place at Cerritos Park East on August 16, 2015, and attracted approximately 35 members, spouses, and guests. The branch is also planning a Fall Fashion Show Fundraiser for scholarships.
The next General Meeting will start with a Social Time at 6:30 p.m. and a program at 7:00 p.m. Members and guests are asked to bring a pen to write down information on activity sheets. Branch Secretary Christine Taxier will serve as Program Chair and present stories of lesser-known women who have made significant contributions to American history.
