Wuppertal's "Toys Company" Donates Toys to Solingen Job Center for Third Year Running

The Wuppertal "Toys Company" has once again shown its commitment to supporting families in need, as it donates well-preserved toys to the Solingen job center for the third consecutive year.

Despite the unfortunate news that the Vohwinkel branch of the "Toys Company" will cease operations by the end of the year due to a reduction in funding, Sascha von Schwedler, the project leader, remains optimistic about the future. He aims to work on a future-proof new corporate structure for the company.

The "Toys Company" is responsible for cleaning, sorting, and repairing the donated toys if necessary. This year, they have collected toys throughout the year, with a container for toy donations at Bärenloch on Cronenberger Straße 177. The container will be accessible during the opening hours of the EBZ (Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM).

The Solingen job center notified around 1,700 households in writing about the offer. Employees of the job center and their offspring also contributed to the toy donations this year.

The Customer Service Center in Solingen was transformed into a Christmas room for the third time. Numerous fairy lights and a Christmas tree were added to the center, and cuddly toys, cars, picture books, puzzles, games, and lovingly wrapped surprise gifts were available for the two to ten-year-old children of Solingen's citizens receiving benefits.

Around 500 toys found new owners in the gift action in the second week of December. Sabine Boddenberg, the first caseworker, expressed her delight at seeing so many shining eyes and heartfelt "thank yous" in the Customer Service Center, an occurrence she does not typically witness.

This collaboration between the municipal job center Solingen, the Technical Operations (TBS), and the Wuppertal "Toys Company" has brought joy to the girls and boys in the Advent season for the third year running. The toy donation project will continue in the future at the Barmen location of the Wuppertal "Toys Company" with a quarter of the previous staff.

Sascha von Schwedler, whose "Toys Company" renewed the toy donations, expressed mixed feelings about the current situation: "Just when it's going so well, we have to downsize...". However, he remains hopeful about the future and the potential for the project to continue benefiting Solingen job center customers in the years to come, assuming a successful future-proof new corporate structure is established.
