Immersive attraction Visiotopia debuts at Green Zoo Wuppertal
Get ready for an unforgettable journey as Visiotopia, an innovative 360-degree immersive experience, opens its doors at the Green Zoo Wuppertal on July 16, 2025. This groundbreaking multimedia project, a collaboration between the Zoo Association Wuppertal e.V. and Visiodrom GmbH, transforms the former birdhouse into a unique audiovisual journey through various habitats around the world.
Visitors to Visiotopia will embark on an emotional journey exploring diverse ecosystems, including penguin habitats near the Falkland Islands, elephant habitats in the vast expanse of East African savannas, biodiverse rainforests of South America and Southeast Asia, native habitats of the fire salamander in the Bergisches Land, and red panda habitats in the high altitudes of the Himalayas.
After the immersive experience, visitors can transition directly into the adjacent Tropical Hall, where they can engage with real animals and plants in an authentic tropical climate. The project is supported by the Naturschutz-Euro initiative, which funds six selected conservation projects worldwide, and additional funding was provided by Visiodrom GmbH.
The former aviary at the Green Zoo Wuppertal, which closed due to not meeting animal husbandry standards, has been repurposed for Visiotopia. The immersive experience features 16 high-performance projectors that project animal and nature footage onto four walls and the floor, immersing the audience in the habitat.
The Zoo Association Wuppertal e.V. has been supporting the zoo since 1960, including the construction of the original aviary. They also funded the adjacent free-flight hall (1993) and are currently funding the "Rivers of Sulawesi" facility.
More immersive films are planned for the future to showcase the diversity and beauty of nature. A joint combo ticket for Visiotopia and a ride on the suspended monorail in Wuppertal will be offered by the Green Zoo Wuppertal and Visiodrom.
Since May 2024, a Nature Conservation Euro - a voluntary one-euro donation per ticket - has been funding six selected nature conservation projects. Visiotopia's implementation was undertaken by Visiodrom GmbH, known for their 45-meter-high screen shows in Wuppertal-Heckinghausen.
Visitors to Visiotopia can expect an audiovisual journey through threatened habitats protected by the Green Zoo Wuppertal. The Zoo Association Wuppertal e.V. invested 195,000 euros in Visiotopia, contributing to its construction.
Prepare for an adventure like no other at Visiotopia, where you'll explore the wonders of the world and support global conservation efforts. Don't miss out on this incredible experience when it opens on July 16, 2025.
After their emotional journey through various habitats at Visiotopia, visitors might find it intriguing to transition into the adjacent Tropical Hall, blending their home-and-garden exploration with a real-world encounter with exotic animals and plants. Following their visit, they could reflect on their lifestyle choices, considering the Naturschutz-Euro initiative's support for six worldwide conservation projects—a sustainable approach that aligns with Visiotopia's mission of promoting biodiversity and preserving threatened habitats.
