Imaginative Concept for Future Residential Spaces: Yoohome
In the heart of Bangkok, renowned artist Taras Yoom has unveiled his debut architectural project, Yoohome. This innovative residential space is more than just a private residence; it's a living, breathing work of art that invites visitors to experience architecture in a unique way.
Yoohome is a testament to Yoom's signature style of biomorphic surrealism, a fusion of biological forms with human elements. Inspired by Thailand's lush tropical flora and the playful, otherworldly characters from Yoom's own Yoomoota Universe, Yoohome is a whimsical vision for future living that blurs the lines between art, nature, and imagination.
The exterior of Yoohome is a vibrant blend of pastel colours and soft rounded edges, with columns resembling exotic plant stems. As if sprouting from a dream, this surreal being with a face and personality is envisioned to breathe, adapt, and evolve. The design continues inside, with organic, undulating partitions acting as both artistic elements and functional space dividers.
Every piece of furniture and lighting fixture within Yoohome is a unique creation by Taras Yoom, each telling its own story. The interior continues the playful narrative, zoned by flowing partitions instead of traditional walls, and large glass windows that flood the space with natural light and provide lush garden views.
While whimsical and artistic, Yoohome is also engineered for modern living and environmental resilience. It is built on a strong steel frame and concrete foundation to withstand seismic activity, uses energy-efficient and fire-protected materials, and incorporates an open-plan layout with large glass windows that merge the interior with the tropical garden outside.
Yoohome marks the first installation in Taras Yoom's ambitious Yoomoota Village, a planned complex where each home will be inspired by a different tropical or alien plant. Construction on Yoohome is set to begin in 2027, and it spans about 210 square meters across three floors.
In summary, Yoohome's concept and design are a fusion of bio-inspired surrealism, playful storytelling, and practical architecture, creating a unique residential experience that is both fantastical and sustainable. This innovative living space is a testament to Taras Yoom's visionary approach to art and architecture, and a promising addition to the ever-evolving landscape of Bangkok.
Yoohome's design is inspired by Thailand's tropical flora, creating a lifestyle space that seamlessly blends art, nature, and imagination. This unique home-and-garden setting hosts a series of events where visitors can experience the fusion of biomorphic surrealism and modern living, offering an inspiration for future home and garden projects.
