IGA 2027: 'Alte Ziegelei' Park Revamped with Sandstone Wall and 'Green Classroom'
The Department of Urban Greenery has revamped a section of the 'Alte Ziegelei' park in anticipation of the IGA 2027. A key feature of the redesign is a half-circle wall made of Ruhr sandstone, which doubles as a biodiversity booster and visitor seating. This wall anchors a 'Green Classroom', set to host environmental education and events.
The new design includes fresh pathways and two ecologically significant spaces: a dry grassland area and a wet meadow. The sandstone wall, a central element, encourages biodiversity and offers visitors a place to rest. It serves as the heart of the 'Green Classroom', which will be used by the State Association of Nurserymen and other interested parties for environmental learning and events during the IGA 2027.
The 'Alte Ziegelei' park's redesign, led by the Department of Urban Greenery, promises to enhance both the park's ecological value and its appeal to visitors. The 'Green Classroom' and its sandstone wall are set to become notable features during the IGA 2027.
