Get ready to immerse yourself in a vibrant four-day visual explosion, as Huashan 1914 Creative Park plays host to the joint art exhibition, "Voices 2025 x Photo ONE'25."

On a Wednesday scout, our crew was granted a sneak peek, witnessing a buzz of artists, exhibitors, and crew members setting up tables, installations, hanging pictures, and preparing for a hoped-to-be-bustling event.

Divided into two distinct yet interconnected halves, this event offers a fantastic assortment of art forms, boasting photography, sculptures, and interdisciplinary presentations.

On the right side of the event space, occupying buildings E2 A, B, and C, lies the showcase of Photo ONE'25. This side features eight individual galleries, jam-packed with artists of Taiwanese, South Korean, Hong Kong, and Japanese origin, each offering their unique paraphernalia in photography.

Themes and subject matters stretch from food to tattooed gangsters and inventive expressions of relationships.

Famed photographer, Shen Chao-liang, who serves as the event's emcee and led the pre-release gallery tour, showcases some of his most acclaimed shots from his series on Tokyo's former Tsukiji Fish Market[1][5].

The ARTHIS Fine Art gallery exhibits a collection of black and white photographs from Taiwanese photographers, Chih Huei-chang and the late Chang Chao-tang. Chih's work veers toward moody, unsettling depictions of the natural world, while Chang's photographs are surreal and open to the viewer's interpretation.

One eye-catching exhibition presents miniatures of stores, in all shapes and sizes, by Takahiko Suzuki. Each store is a digital collage, stitched together, accompanied by a large white poster with written coordinates across the sky, guiding visitors to the stores' locations[6].

The miniaturized stores range from tiny stalls to church-like structures, creating a stereoscopic balance between authentic representations and artistic pursuits. Each store is strategically placed against a blue sky, allowing viewers to envision the exact location, the store owner, and the surrounding aroma.

Japan's Haruhiko Kawaguchi, part of the Gallery Tosei exhibit, offers a collection of photographs capturing people interacting with others while wrapped in plastic, close but unable to bridge the gaps[2].

"Got a question?" he smirked rhetorically, directing our gazes to his plastic-wrapped family standing in front of their home and garden, also sheathed in plastic. Two women engaged in a lip-lock but seemed unable to engage with their surroundings, while two individuals sat at a children's playground, looking conspicuous amidst their mismatched surroundings.

Moving beyond the photography galleries, Tomoya Tsukamoto's "Journey of Encounters" awaits. Each individual piece is an expressive, oversize, airbrushed canvas[3].

"This exhibition aims to visualize intersecting moments," Tsukamoto explained in an Instagram post promoting the event.

The kaleidoscope imagery in each work is achieved through airbrushing flowers and their petals, leaving behind white silhouettes against vivid backgrounds. While intriguing individually, when considered together, they generate an effect to provide depth and significance to the space.

Moving closer and drawing further away both evoke contrasting sensations in the viewer, fostering a layered ethereal dynamic that echoes the artist's spatial perception and detail.

Another non-photography display of art is Liu Hsin-ying's collection, presented by Taipei's AKI Gallery. Liu's art is abstract, resembling not just abstract landscapes but also specific moments, as seen by the bright red stalks in Straight to the Sky (直達天際) and the textures in Stars Scattered in the Dark Night Forest (星星灑落在黑夜的森林)[4].

In addition to the exhibits, the galleries and artists plan speaking sessions, award ceremonies, and book signings throughout Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
