Historian Christoph Timm is awarded the Portus medal by the city of Pforzheim.

Christoph Timm, a renowned historian and cultural advocate, has been awarded the Portus Medal of the city of Pforzheim in recognition of his merits and dedication to the city's cultural heritage.

Mayor Peter Boch bestowed the honour upon Timm during a small event, praising his significant contributions to Pforzheim. The Portus Medal, named after the Latin word for harbour or marketplace, is a prestigious award given to exceptional personalities since the late 1990s.

Timm's involvement in Pforzheim extends beyond academic pursuits. He has been actively engaged in local social and cultural events, fostering historical awareness and social inclusion. Notably, he has been involved in organising or speaking at events highlighting Jewish life's contributions to the city and supporting inclusive social causes like solidarity with refugees and marginalized groups.

As the chairman of the association "Friends of the Schlosskirche," Timm has played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the city's historical sites. He has also been instrumental in the creation of the Archaeological Museum in Pforzheim, which commemorates the Roman beginnings of the city.

Timm's scholarly contributions are substantial, including co-authoring the book “Kunst- und Kulturdenkmale in Pforzheim und im Enzkreis” (Art and Cultural Monuments in Pforzheim and the Enz district) with Hermann Diruf, published in 2002. This work documents important art and cultural heritage sites in Pforzheim and surrounding areas.

Moreover, Timm has managed numerous monument projects during his tenure as a municipal heritage conservationist from 1988 to 2020. He is also a co-founder of the Museum Johannes Reuchlin and has published numerous publications on monument topography.
