Green Roof Project Transforms Garage Area, Bringing Lush Greenery and Environmental Benefits
A green roof project has transformed a garage area in the region, covering over 200 square meters with lush greenery. The initiative, supported by various organizations and funding programs, aims to enhance the environment and provide numerous benefits.
The project was made possible through subsidies from the Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband, which contributed 10,000 euros. Additionally, the Landkreis Stade's Naturschutzfond supported Jürgen Kleine-Natrop and his neighbors in financing their green roof.
The '10,000 Green Roofs' program also played a significant role, offering a subsidy of 50 euros per square meter, up to 200 square meters per property. Jürgen Kleine-Natrop and Anna Bobrowski, members of a property owners' cooperative, recommend other owners to apply for this funding.
The green roof project was completed in just two days by a specialized company. It requires minimal maintenance, with no regular gutter cleaning needed and only occasional watering during extended dry periods. Frau Großmaas from the Environmental Agency is involved in the project and can provide further information.
Green roofs offer multiple benefits, including cooling the interior of buildings, storing rainwater, and providing food for insects.
The successful implementation of the green roof project on the garage roofs has significantly improved the appearance of the area. With minimal maintenance required and numerous environmental benefits, more property owners are encouraged to apply for subsidies and follow suit.
