Party Time in Eutin: A Scene to Remember!
Eutin (aj) was buzzing last weekend, as we celebrated our newspaper's milestone birthday in style. No fancy speeches, no stuffy attire, just good vibes all around! Since our beginnings in 1995, we've been dedicated to keeping the local community informed. This heartwarming celebration in the heart of Eutin was no exception.
By early morning, police estimated 25,000 visitors graced our birthday bash, with sunshine overhead, providing the perfect backdrop for chatting, marveling, and having a grand old time. The team from Oldenburger was there in full force: Susanne Dohm, Silvia Michalzik, and their Eutiner colleagues, lending a helping hand, answering questions, and soaking up the camaraderie.
Celebrating Local Pride
We chose this date with a purpose: to collaborate with the Eutin Economic Association and showcase local businesses during a Sunday shopping event. As Managing Director Stefan Reich put it, "Our big celebration underscored what makes us distinctive and what we stand for—in Eutin, Ploen, Preetz, and beyond. We stand up for the local economy!"
Dance, Sing, and Travel
The celebration was a smorgasbord of performances, featuring line dance, carnival, zumba, martial arts, musical numbers, shanties, singer-songwriters, and brass bands. Each act was terrific and deserving of a standing ovation. If there was a hidden star of the day, it was the new reporter travel bus—a Mercedes Tourismo—that gathered quite the crowd. Its driver, Holger Kolberg, not only ensures a safe journey but also brings the fun with his zesty personality, truly embodying the spirit that the adventure begins when you board!
A Special Shout-Out to the Helpers
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to THW and firefighters, who once again demonstrated their remarkable service by ensuring power supply, filling our XXL splash pools, and lending a helping hand when needed. Market Master Stefan Huss was as reliable as ever, and Yannick Doering made sure every group on stage played to the right beat. The delicious birthday cake, courtesy of the baker's guild, was served on eco-friendly paper plates, making this celebration even more memorable. A big thank you also to Claus Behrens for his outstanding moderation and tireless effort.
