Updated Article:
Georgie the Victorious statue pops up in photos on social media hailing from Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai. This epic sculpture is about to find its place in the new city park soon.
Let's cast our minds back to when the first statue of St. Georgie the Victorious in Russia was forged in the workshop of acclaimed sculptor Alexander Tkachuk, in Krasonarsk. It arrived at Achinsk in early April.
The creation of this monument could be attributed to the support of generous patrons. It will serve as the focal point of a historical-cultural park currently under construction opposite the city administration to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
Georgie the Victorious and the slaying of his fearsome dragon represent a symbol that connects themes of patriotism, heroism, love for the Motherland, and historical traditions.
We earlier reported on the stages of the statue's manufacturing and casting processes, which are complex and meticulous. Now, the monument stands complete, as seen in the photos shared on social media.
Residents of Achinsk and its guests will get to witness Georgie the Victorious in person on May 6, the day the park is to be officially opened.
