Ford furnishes Caritas with e-Transit: Green aid for social services

In a significant step towards sustainability, Ford Germany has provided 40 fully electric Ford E-Transits to Caritas in Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The handover ceremony took place at the Cologne Ford plant, marking a joint responsibility between business and civil society for sustainable action.

The E-Transits will play a crucial role in helping Caritas reach people in need more efficiently, flexibly, and emission-free. These electric vehicles are suitable for transporting meals and other essential supplies, making them an ideal choice for Caritas's services.

The E-Transit, with a permissible total weight of 4250 kg and up to 15 cubic meters of cargo space, is designed to meet the demands of Caritas's operations. Each vehicle can cover 316 kilometers on a single charge of electricity, and it can be fully charged in eight hours at 11 kW.

Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and Judith Kleinemeyer, Head of Ford Philanthropy Germany, emphasized their support for Caritas associations in their social work. They also highlighted the importance of promoting innovative E-technology in the automotive industry.

Dr. Friedrich von Schönsfeld, Chairman of the German Caritas Association, thanked Ford for their support. He noted that the E-Transits would make Caritas work more efficient and environmentally friendly for their services in the Rhineland regional association.

Ford has equipped multiple Caritas associations in Germany with E-Transits, demonstrating their commitment to supporting charitable organizations in their efforts to reduce emissions and promote sustainability. The offer from Ford was made public via the German Caritas Association on Ascension Day.

The 40 E-Transits were parked and ready for collection in the G-hall at Henry-Ford-Straße 1 in Cologne. Ford also provided insurance for the vehicles, ensuring peace of mind for Caritas as they embark on their new, eco-friendly journey.

This partnership between Ford and Caritas Rhein-Kreis Neuss is a significant step towards achieving climate neutrality goals and promoting sustainable practices. The use of electric vehicles in Caritas's operations is expected to lower carbon footprints, improve air quality, and align with broader environmental objectives.
