Festival Preparation Tips for Parents in the Year 2025 - Bumbershoot Edition

The much-anticipated Bumbershoot 2025 festival is set to take place at Seattle Center on August 30-31, 2025. This year's event promises a wide array of activities for families, alongside music and culinary experiences.

Doors open daily at 12:30 p.m., welcoming visitors to explore the festival's themed areas or districts. For families, Bumbershoot 2025 offers a plethora of engaging activities.

The Family-Friendly District features visual spectacles and dance performances suitable for all ages, a new Animation District with experimental films, feature animations, and a unique Bigfoot deepfake competition led by a young animator. The Recess District offers active kids’ activities like double Dutch jump rope, a large jungle gym, and entertainment including wrestling (Bumbermania Wrestling Program), skateboarding on a half-pipe, gymnastics and acrobats, breakdancing, roller skating, and cheerleading.

Creative face painting with elaborate designs beyond the usual butterflies will also be available. Live free shows such as the School of Rock House Band performing daily 11:00 am–2:00 pm during the festival add to the family-friendly atmosphere.

Seattle Center’s broader offerings, including the Seattle Children’s Museum and Pacific Science Center, will also be accessible during the festival. Outdoor spots like Discovery Park, Green Lake Park, and Alki Beach provide recreational breaks between festival activities.

Bumbershoot 2025 boasts a strong culinary lineup, celebrating diverse and acclaimed local food vendors. With hundreds of food options available for purchase, it's a fun experience for all ages to explore.

In addition to the family-focused activities, Bumbershoot 2025 will feature more than 100 artists across various genres. Headlining artists include Weezer, Car Seat Headrest, Aurora, and Janelle Monáe. Other artists on the lineup include Bright Eyes, Digable Planets, and Saba.

The festival also includes the Flatstock section, dedicated to printed art and poster purchasing from famous artists. The Fashion District offers a youth-led fashion showcase, makeovers, and a fashion marketplace. Geodesic domes can be found throughout the festival grounds, hosting micro-programs like the Cat Circus.

Outdoor port-a-potties will be available, and Seattle Center has restrooms in all indoor venue locations. Tickets for Bumbershoot 2025 cost $125 for a single day, $150 for a weekend pass, and $350 for the deluxe package. Children 12 and younger are free, but still require a ticket. There is a limit of two free children's tickets per online order.
