Moers, Germany: Moers Festival Returns to Vibrant Festival Village
The 54th edition of the Moers Festival is set to begin on June 6, 2025, after a hiatus due to the pandemic. The festival will take place at the Enni-Event Hall, Solimare outdoor pool meadows, and a festival village on the adjacent car park. Notably, the Rodelberg and the schoolyard of the Gymnasium am Filder Benden will no longer be used for the event.
Tim Isfort, the artistic director, explains that the change in location is primarily due to the lengthy distances caused by COVID-19 safety measures, which were challenging for both visitors and the festival team. Additionally, the extensive grounds resulted in higher costs for security and infrastructure.
While critics may voice concerns about the move of the stage from Rodelberg to the pool meadow, Isfort maintains that the newly completed forecourt of Solimare and Event Hall will provide an equally engaging festival experience. He promises the area will be decorated with creative stands and installations to add life to the asphalt area.
Beyond concert aficionados, visitors without a festival ticket will also benefit from the event's offerings. Approximately 70 stands, almost as many as before the pandemic, will feature global cuisine and drink options, from African specialties to Thai street food. Additionally, families can explore the popular market, children's activities, second-hand clothing, arts and crafts, and even a work platform offering a panoramic view of the event for a small fee.
Associations and organizations will also present themselves for the first time at the Moers Festival. One unique feature is the tractor stage and a cargo bike converted into a mobile concert location, as well as two stages suspended ten meters above the ground, the "Luftlift" and the "Flugflügel."
To attract a broader audience, the Moers Festival has revamped its ticket system. The "Pay what you want" concept offers access to all stages for as little as €40, including all four festival days and camping. The organizers hope this new approach will encourage more people to join the festivities.
