Family in Bielefeld transforms ordinary garden into enchanting oasis, complete with a sparkling swimming pool, showcased in captivating video.

In the picturesque region of OWL, a competition is underway to find the "most beautiful garden." Among the fourteen finalists is a charming garden that belongs to Jana and Lutz Hermanns and their three daughters.

From the moment they moved into their new home in 2021, the family embarked on a mission to renovate and design their terrace, garden, and pond. Lutz Hermanns, a hobby cook and head of the IT department in a large engineering company, found gardening to be the perfect balance to his busy professional life.

The heart of the garden is a meandering pond, constructed using 28 tons of Ibbenbüren sandstone. The pond, which is 1.30 meters deep, was designed to be suitable for swimming, making it a unique feature in the competition. Surrounding the pond, one can find native shrubs, a fig tree, decorative quinces, and summer lilac, creating a serene and natural atmosphere.

The small seating area in the garden is framed by these elements, offering a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the fragrant scent of rosemary, thyme, tarragon, and oregano. Herb enthusiasts have taken notice of this aromatic haven.

Lutz Hermanns also makes use of the greenhouse he built, growing peppers and tomatoes. The house, which was purchased by the Hermanns family in 2020, was previously owned by someone who wished to preserve it, adding to its historical charm.

The Hermanns family participated in the Day of the Open Garden Gate for the first time this year, welcoming 70 to 100 visitors to their garden. The online voting for the competition will take place in the first week of September on the digital theme page.

As the competition heats up, the Hermanns family awaits the results with bated breath, hoping to bring home the title of the "most beautiful garden in OWL."
