Exhibition titled "My life with cutlery" unfolds at the German Klingenmuseum in Gräfrath
This weekend, the German Blade Museum in Solingen will host a series of exciting events, culminating in the announcement of the winners of the POTT:DesignAward on Sunday, 30th of June, at 3:00 PM.
The POTT:DesignAward, an initiative of Hannspeter Pott, is a celebration of creativity and innovation in the realm of repurposed cutlery. Residents of the Bergisches Städtedreieck were invited to submit their unique creations, and visitors to the museum have had the opportunity to vote for their favourites over the past three months.
The events this weekend are part of the festivities marking the 650th anniversary of the Blade City of Solingen. The German Blade Museum, in collaboration with the Heimatverein Solingen-Graefrath e. V., has organised a special exhibition titled "My Life with Cutlery," which is still on display until the 30th of June.
In addition to the POTT:DesignAward, visitors can also experience the event "Graefrath through the Centuries," which takes place from the 29th to the 30th of June. Admission to the German Blade Museum is free this weekend, making it an ideal opportunity to explore the museum and its exhibitions.
Hannspeter Pott, the founder of the POTT:DesignAward, will personally present the awards at the announcement ceremony. This promises to be a memorable occasion, not only for the winners but for all those who appreciate the art of repurposing and the rich history of Solingen's blade-making tradition.
The POTT:DesignAward exhibition is happening concurrently with the special exhibition "My Life with Cutlery." The winners of the POTT:Design-Award "Mein Leben mit Gepäcken," as it is known in German, have not been publicly disclosed yet. Be sure to attend the ceremony on Sunday to find out who will take home the coveted prize.
This weekend at the German Blade Museum offers a unique blend of history, creativity, and community spirit. With additional experiences to be had around the museum, it promises to be an event not to be missed. So, mark your calendars and join us at the German Blade Museum this weekend for a celebration of design, creativity, and the rich history of Solingen.
