Chemnitz's Garage Campus to Officially Debut on March 21-22, 2025

Chemnitz, Germany - The anticipated Garage Campus, a central cultural location designed for creativity, interaction, and collaborative shaping, will make its grand entrance on the former operational yard and tram depot of Chemnitz Public Transportation (CVAG) in the Kappel district. The opening comes as part of Chemnitz's designation as the European Capital of Culture for 2025.

On the evening of Friday, March 21st, the grounds will host an eclectic program, including live music, light installations, and a diverse assortment of cultural experiences. Attendees may enjoy an array of performances by Shoot the Cherry, Me&T, and Meniak, along with DJ sets by Duffy Brenner and more, congregating between 5 pm and 11 pm.

The following day, Saturday, March 22nd, invites the public to explore the Garage Campus during the Discovery Day, from 10 am to 4 pm. The event offers interactive opportunities, games, music, and gourmet delights, inspiring families, friends, and those curious about the potential of this new cultural space.

Slated to connect history and future, the Garage Campus aims to develop into an inclusive, sustainable, and significant cultural hub for Chemnitz and beyond. For more information about the opening and the Garage Campus, visit www.garage-campus.de.

The first major public exhibition at the Garage Campus took place on May 9, 2025, as part of the Europe Festival. This exceptional event showcased the transformation of a former tram depot into a lively cultural venue, launching "#3000Garages – The Exhibition." Future exhibitions at the Garage Campus, centering on the School of Garage, are planned for late August 2025. The School of Garage—an international, collective summer school—will run from August 24 to 31, 2025, culminating in a public exhibition featuring outputs from nine temporary garage ateliers with unique artistic or research foci. This exhibition is expected to be open to all Chemnitz residents and visitors.
