Düsseldorf's Büdchentag 2025 features a fortune wedding - a fresh development

The eighth Düsseldorf Book Day will take place on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, promising a day filled with culture, music, and community. This year's event, according to Clemens Henle, chairman of the Düsseldorf Book Day e.V, will feature novelties that are yet to be unveiled.

The heart of the celebration will be at the Sky kiosk (Lindenstraße 60, 40233 Düsseldorf), where a vinyl meeting is scheduled. Participants will have 20 minutes to play their own records, and sign-up is on-site. The event will also see local designers and labels showcasing their products from 11 am.

The day will be framed by numerous neighbourhood festivals across Düsseldorf. Eleven neighbourhood festivals are planned this year, distributed in Friedrichstadt, Oberbilk, City Center, Flingern, Derendorf, Pempelfort, Rath, and Hamm.

The Budchen Day will kick off officially at 2 pm, with Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU) presiding over the opening ceremony. In the afternoon, Frank Popp, a Düsseldorf band, will return from Berlin to support the Book Day. Frank Popp will be performing at Bedris Island (Bachstraße 50a, 40223 Düsseldorf).

The Hip-Hop Budchen can be found in the Karakus kiosk, while the Super Happy Market on the Fürstenplatz is back for its second round. A flea market will take place on Volksgartenstraße, which ends with traditional food at the Sri Lanka Budchen (Volksgartenstraße 37, 40227 Düsseldorf).

The Fortuna Budchen (Joseph-Beuy's Ufer 27, 40479 Düsseldorf) will be part of the Pop-Up Weddings of the Evangelical Church Düsseldorf. Couples can get married there spontaneously, without complicated prerequisites and long registration processes.

The children's program, supported by the Bürgerstiftung Düsseldorf, includes making notebooks from old Budchen Day posters at the Fürstenplatz, and designing amulets at the Peace Budchen (Friedenstraße 29a, 40219 Düsseldorf).

For the first time, a kiosk will be sponsored at the Düsseldorf Book Day, which will be the Papp Up kiosk (Ackerstraße 107, 40233 Düsseldorf) in Flingern. The Papp Up kiosk will be made of cardboard and is currently being rebuilt.

This year, the event will also feature an after-party, but specific details about the program and new highlights are yet to be announced. For the most up-to-date information, it is recommended to check official Düsseldorf cultural or book event websites closer to the date.

At the event, local designers and labels will showcase their home-and-garden products starting from 11 am. Additionally, a distinctive addition to this year's Book Day will be the Papp Up kiosk, which will showcase innovative lifestyle designs created from cardboard.
