Dusseldorf: Christmas tree collection begins by Awista from 8th January
In the heart of winter, the City of Düsseldorf is preparing for its annual Christmas tree collection, organized by Awista, the city's waste management service. The collection is scheduled to begin on January 8, 2025, and will continue until January 23, 2025, with different districts being serviced on specific days.
On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the residents of Gerresheim, Grafenberg, Hassels, Himmelgeist, Holthausen, Itter will have their Christmas trees collected. The following day, Thursday, January 16, 2025, the residents of Benrath, Flingern North / South, Hubbelrath, Knittkuhl, Ludenberg, Unterbach, and Urdenbach will be the focus.
Collection in Eller, Garath, Hellerhof, Lierenfeld will take place on Friday, January 19, 2025, with Vennhausen being the last day for collection in the given timeframe.
The collection schedule for each area is subject to logistical planning and neighborhood grouping, ensuring an efficient and timely service. To facilitate this, Awista kindly asks residents not to place their Christmas trees on the streets before the collection date.
On collection day, residents are requested to place their trees visibly at the curb for easy identification and collection. It is important to note that the trees must be free of Christmas decorations and not packed in plastic bags.
For practical reasons, Awista can only accommodate trees that are up to two meters in length. Larger trees should be cut accordingly to fit within the collection vehicle.
Collection will begin at 6 AM each day and will continue into the late evening, ensuring that as many trees as possible can be collected in a timely manner.
Awista would like to remind residents that this service is an environmentally friendly way to dispose of their Christmas trees, as they will be recycled into wood chippings and used for various purposes, such as landscaping and gardening.
So, as the festive season comes to a close, the residents of Düsseldorf can rest assured that their Christmas trees will be collected and recycled in an eco-friendly manner. Happy New Year, and here's to a greener 2025!
