Join the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) as they invite Northern Colorado residents to celebrate National Public Lands Day on September 27. This week-long celebration, taking place in Northern Colorado, will be filled with events focused on sustainability, outdoor education, and open spaces.

The LCDNR, in collaboration with various organizations, has organised a series of guided programs designed to showcase the value of public lands. These events are free for the community and open to all ages.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the A Canyon Edge Open Space Public Tour scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25. For those keen on learning more about geology, The Geology of Devil's Backbone is a featured event at Devil's Backbone Open Space on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

For those looking to make a hands-on difference, the project aims to protect local watersheds and recreation areas through various clean-up activities. The Arapaho Bend Pond Clean-Up, a partner program with Fort Collins Natural Areas, takes place on Thursday, Sept. 18. A Litter Cleanup Project is also planned for the Carter Lake Area on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The family-friendly "Leave it to Beavers!" event will take place at River Bluffs Open Space and Poudre River Trail on Friday, Sept. 19. The celebration will also include family-friendly litter cleanups at Carter Lake, Flatiron, and Pinewood reservoirs.

Larimer County has conserved over 57,000 acres of land and manages nearly 100 miles of trails. By participating in these events, you're not only enjoying the beauty of these public lands but also contributing to their preservation. So, mark your calendars and join us in celebrating National Public Lands Day!
