Commencement of playground building along Berliner Chaussee/Wald und Wiese at Hohefeld-Privatweg in Puppendorf
New Playground Coming to Hohefeld-Private Way in Magdeburg
Construction on a new playground in Hohefeld-Private Way, Magdeburg, has begun this week. The project, costing approximately 375,000 euros, is expected to be completed by next early summer.
The playground will be developed on a 2,200 square meter vacant lot near the Kanonenbahn, addressing the shortage of play and leisure facilities in the Berliner Chaussee district.
The construction site can be accessed via Sülzwiesen-Private Way and Hohefeld-Private Way, with potential temporary restrictions during construction.
The project is funded from the city's budget and the design plans are based on the wishes of the local residents, collected through a participation process in autumn 2024. Under the theme "Forest and Meadow", the new playground will feature at least 1,500 square meters of play areas, two sand play areas for different age groups, a table tennis table, a central meeting point with seating options, a ball court with a fence, and a wood chip area with a zip line, a bar, and a picnic area.
In the first phase, the site will be leveled and filled with about 35 centimeters of soil. After a settling phase, further deep construction work will be carried out in the spring, followed by the installation of play equipment.
Stadtgarten and Friedhöfe are commissioning the construction of the playground. The participation process for the development of the topic "Forest and Meadow" for the construction of the new play and recreational area in Hohefeld was organized by the City of Kamp-Lintfort in autumn 2024. The project aims to provide a fun and engaging outdoor space for children and families in the Magdeburg community.
